The County Surveyor is a county-wide elected office serving a four year term.
The County Surveyor does not receive a salary from the county. It is the responsibility of the county or an individual wanting a survey to pay the County Surveyor an agreed fee for his/her services. It is the responsibility of the County Surveyor to record all surveys in a County Surveyors Plat Book. The County Surveyor is a member of the Board of Equalization.
Since 1993 the County Surveyor and the County Commissioners have participated in cooperation with the State of Missouri to monument ten sections or quarter section corners per year in Texas County. The state reimburses the county fifty-percent of the cost for this program.
